If You’re in a Rush…

If you’re in a rush, you can browse through the costume categories, find the right Halloween costume, purchase from the first vendor listed, and know that you’ve gotten a good deal. I always list the lowest BASE price (excluding shipping) for the costume first, so you can be certain you’re getting a good deal. (I did not factor in shipping costs because they vary according to respective locations, and Halloween vendors often have shipping discounts and promotions.) Many vendors also provide links on their pages to optional accessories, so if you also need vampire fangs or a witch’s hat to accessorize your new Halloween costume, you can often buy them quickly without having to do additional product searches.

But don’t forget to look at the bottom of the costume pages to look for makeup video tutorials to help you complete your Halloween look. There are awful makeup video tutorials out there, lots of them, I’ve watched hundreds of makeup videos looking for the good ones to post here. How to Navigate This Website

The tabs on top and the menu on the right side link to the same pages. Use whichever navigational method you like. (“Tween” and “Teen” Halloween costumes are in the “Kids Halloween Costumes” section.) There’s also a search button on the top right, or the “tag cloud” on the bottom right side of the site.

What is a tag cloud? A tag cloud is a visual depiction of tags used to describe the content of this website. I “tag” each page with keyword phrases, and the more a keyword phrase is “tagged”, the bigger the text size for the link. If you click on any of the links in the tag cloud, the website will show you all the pages which have been tagged with that phrase. For example, if you click on “”, you’ll be shown all the website pages which contain makeup videos.

Category Page and Link Organization

For each category, the Halloween costumes are organized according to the lowest price I found for each costume, from lowest to highest priced Halloween costume. For costumes which are sold by more than one vendor, I placed the vendor links in order from lowest to highest price. (A listing may accidentally be left in the wrong order, but most should be right.)

To make things quicker and easier for you, when a Halloween vendor has separate landing pages for each size of the same Halloween costume, I included all of those links, and noted which size corresponds to each link. If the costume vendor has just one landing page for all sizes, I put only one link. Some of the links may indicate they are for a particular size, but if that is the only link for that vendor for that costume, then the landing page allows you to select the proper costume size.

There are several reasons why I listed multiple sources for the same Halloween costumes. You might want to keep these things in mind when shopping for a costume.

• Costume Prices Change Often. Halloween vendors have sales promotions, coupon codes, special offers, and markdowns throughout the year. Prices can go up or down faster than I can note the changes. If you have links to all the vendors selling a particular costume, you can double check the posted price really quickly by clicking on the vendor links and confirming the current prices.

• Shipping Costs Vary. Click on the vendor links to check not only the base price, but confirm the shipping costs as well. The Halloween costumes are listed according to base price, not including shipping. There are seasonal shipping discounts available at various points through the year which may not be valid during Halloween, and vendors may change their rates to match other Halloween competitors. Plus rates may vary depending on how close you live to the costume store’s warehouse.

• Estimated Delivery Times Vary. You may need your Halloween costume in a hurry. Generally, the closer a vendor is located to you, the sooner you should receive your Halloween costume. I’ve included a number of vendors located throughout the country to give you maximum choice. Some Halloween stores offer same day shipping if you order by a certain time of the day. Also, some vendors offer expedited shipping for an extra charge. More choices give you more options.

• Shipping Policies Vary. Some Halloween costume vendors will only ship to the lower 48, some will only ship within the United States, some ship to U.S. territories and APO/FPO, some ship to Mexico and Canada, and some ship worldwide. The more vendor links provided, the more options you have.

• Return Policies Vary. Again, the return policies may vendor from one Halloween vendor to another, so if that’s something you’re worried about, I’ve included links to all vendors selling a particular costume, so you can check return policies yourself.

• Sales Tax Can Add Up. California sales tax is 9.75% and its almost that high in several other states. Sales tax can add quite a bit to the total, and affect which vendor has the lowest overall price. I’ve included costume links from a number of Halloween vendors around the country, East Coast, West Coast, and in between, so you can support a vendor in your state or region, if you like, or purchase elsewhere. Note: I am neutral on this issue, but in case it matters to you either way, I have researched each of the Halloween vendors’ locations, and none of them is headquartered in Arizona.

• Customer Reviews. Some of the Halloween vendors post their customers’ Halloween costume reviews, good or bad, and those reviews can be very helpful in determining whether a costume runs small, is a good value for the money, how well it fits on short or tall people, etc. Where I have seen customer reviews, I will specifically provide a link to them, or tell you which vendor has customer reviews on its site, but be sure and check the links yourself in case any reviews have been posted since I created the page.

• Stock Levels Change FrequentlyParticularly during Halloween, and with in-demand costumes, Halloween vendors can sell out of stock quickly. Whenever possible, for each costume, I link to multiple vendors selling that costume so if its out of stock at one vendor, it might still be in stock at another. If the costume you want is out of stock at all the Halloween stores, be sure and click all the links and sign up to receive e-mail notification when the costume is back in stock. That way, you won’t have to check all the websites manually, you’ll get an email and be the first to know its back in stock so you can snap up your size before it sells out again!

• Sign Up for the Halloween Vendors’ Email Lists. Be sure and check each Halloween vendor to see if they have an email list, and sign up for it if they do. You’ll receive email notification of sales, special deals, promotions, coupons, clearance sales, etc. I plan to create a page listing all the sales and promotions I’m aware of, and will do my best to keep it up to date, but Its worth signing up for the email list(s) yourself to get sales notices and discount coupons.

I will be doing a lot of work to build up and improve this site. Its quite a time consuming task, but I really enjoy it, and I hope you find this site very useful and use it to save a lot of money. But since its very detailed, time consuming work, please have patience with me as I slowly build out this site.

I’ll be creating many more pages for all kinds of Halloween kids costumes, creating a page with promotional coupons and discount codes from all the Halloween costume vendors, posting Halloween costume makeup video tutorials, providing a list with the location and shipping policies of all the Halloween costume sellers, and so on. All that will be coming in the future, I’m putting every spare moment into this project.
